Increase Self-confidence; attain victorious life; What to pay attention to?
In sculpturing a good personality, it is essential not to fear failure. Slowly attempting to do each of the things we fear is necessary to build Self-confidence. All of us wish to become people who are acknowledged by all as having a good personality. For that, good Self-confidence is of utmost importance.
Here are some tips to increase Self-confidence...
1. Do not indulge in superfluous Self-Criticism
While some people are sometimes in a state where they fail to understand their own adverse behavioural patterns, others view their own flaws inflatedly and blame themselves. This is seen to create negative effects for them when engaging with others, and in their studies or jobs. It creates the time-wasting habit of useless self-criticism. That time could have been used to nurture one's own skills, but is lost due to this. Just like acknowledging others, it is also mandatory to acknowledge oneself and to encourage oneself, for building a good personality for oneself.
2. Do not fear failure excessively
Are you the kind of person who has many ideas and opinions, but stays away from voicing them, fearing what others who hear them might criticize? For building a confident personality, it is essential to not fear failure. Gradually beginning to do each of the things you fear, is how you build self-confidence. Mental stress is often an obstruction to this. To overcome them; meditation, relaxation exercises etc, can be learned.
3. Do not make comparisons of oneself with others in a harmful level
Comparing oneself to others in each small matter, shatters self-confidence. One must try not to stress and worry the mind with thoughts such as, 'everyone else in this world are smart and happy people except me'.
4. Can give love and care to ourselves
Just as it is necessary to keep others comfortable, it is also essential to love and care for oneself. Eating proper food, exercising regularly, sparing time for one's hobbies, are all necessary to maintain good mental health.
5. No need to avoid that which we fear
When there is low self-confidence, the attempt is to avoid all that which one fears. Along with this; a state of mind that is self-destructive with thoughts like 'life is not easy for me as it is for others', 'nothing is possible by me', etc., are seen to develop in many people.
6. Do not fear to say 'No'
There are many people, who even if they have bonafide awareness such as 'I am sure that this will not work for me', but them, further thoughts arise in them such as 'if I say "No" what will others think, will they get angry with me, will I lose their acceptance', and due to many such fears they go ahead not saying 'No', when they should, and thereby they suffer enormous mental agony. It is not a must to show anger while saying 'No'.
It is possible to express our opinions without exhibiting anger. It is one thing that is to be learned by trying it out many times. And even then, there is no guarantee that mistakes will not happen. At certain times, we can learn what is right from our mistakes. Though this is easier said than done, it is essential to make some genuine attempts at this.
In mental health problems like 'depression' and 'anxiety disorder', lack of self-confidence is seen as a major symptom. Therefore, those around people with low self-confidence should not blame them, instead they should understand their problems and patiently help them to solve them. If necessary, help from a Psychologist can be sought for learning cognitive behaviour therapy, social skills training etc.
This is because in mental health problems like 'depression'; due to lack of self-confidence, people become unable to do anything and hence begin to think that they cannot take their life forward and then there arise chances that they may even begin to contemplate suicide. Most unfortunately, it is also not even necessary that people with such thoughts share them with those around them.
Most often, those who accompany such people to the Psychologist say things like 'we did not know of it', etc;. In all age groups, it is now seen that thoughts of low self-confidence and negative self-concept exist. Thus, it is important to understand the need to build self-confidence to live a better life.
